You mean the 787? It is not that big... a mid-sized jet really. My friend John works on that project and he told me the first flight is scheduled for later this month. I bet if you googled "787 first flight" you would find out exactly when.

We should have a front row seat for early flights as we're right at the south end of Boeing Field. It is being built in Everett so the first will be there, but it won't be long before we see the Dreamliner here in the skies near digital.forest. In the photo above the silver & black building is a Boeing Commercial Airplanes building. Just above it and to the left the large light colored structure is a HUGE hanger across Marginal Way from Boeing Field... you often see fuselage cross sections lying about outside of it. Just below the two Blue Angel F/A-18 aircraft is the south end of the runway. If you squint you can see the tails of two 737-based military aircraft awaiting delivery.

Beyond the ridge behind the airport is Lake Washington, where the Blue Angels perform their airshow this weekend. I'm looking NNE from this perspective. <a href="http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=47.520447,-122.239037&spn=0.070484,0.167542&t=h&z=13&om=1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Here it is from above</a>.
