NASA - Stereo Eclipse

That is the Moon, transiting the Sun, as seen from a million miles further out than Earth, via the STEREO-A spacecraft.

Beautiful.

  1. I think it’s one of the *coolest* ‘accidents’ in the Universe that we get solar eclipses, because:
-Although the sun is 400 times bigger than the Moon, the moon is 400 times closer, ergo, we get total eclipses!
BTW, anyone wanna join me in Wyoming, in 2017 (my 60th year!!) to see the only total solar eclpise I figure I can afford to get to? Reservations now being taken at Chez Wigton!
