Car Photo of the Day: Weekend Stumper

OK, after the Turner fell like a house of cards I figured I’d throw one a tad tougher at you.

This car appeared at my local main street “show & shine” a few years ago and it blew my mind.

  1. Let’s see… Gotta be mid-1930s from the bodywork. Huge. Maybe a Packard? I don’t recognize those red striped bumpers though…

  2. I think I’ve come close to stumping everyone, and I can’t really blame any of you, as this machine is rather unique. From the original post of June 2006:

“This was probably the most unique and rare vehicle at the show today, and it quite deservedly won “Best of Show”. It is a 1941 Lincoln, but not your every day Lincoln. It was a custom built factory car of which less than 20 were built, and NOT sold to the general public. These cars were given to Ford family members and company executives. It is a phaeton, with a flathead/sidevalve V-12 engine driving it. It is owned by a guy down in Marysville, the next town south of Arlington, and has been shown at major concours such as Pebble Beach.”

  3. Amazing! It really really doesn’t look like a ’41 of any sort! Very retro!

And I WROTE that Wikipedia article! American V-12 and V-16 engines are a sort of hobby for me!
