Road Photo of the Day: Mad Dog, this could be you. (Vanishing Point, part 4)

This scene is in Montana, but I know that John “Mad Dog” Morrow’s E-type is almost done with its restoration and will soon be delivered from San Diego to Seattle. Not quite Denver to San Francisco, but a worthy road trip nonetheless. Lots of great roads to choose from.

  1. OK: Technically, this is a crappy *picture*, but it is a VERY evocative and good *photograph*. I learned long ago to differentiate between the two…which is very likely the *only* bit of my soul that is graphic arts-related ‘artsy fartsy.”

I too, look for the photograph within the picture..and in this’un, chuck, ya hit another one out of the park!

I’m still seeing a calendar in all of this, CG! I think car guys would lap’em up.

  2. John, aren’t you going to go *drive* that bad boy back to Seattle?

    “Delivered?” Oh, puh-LEEEZE!

    😉

  3. He intends to “deliver” it ala Kowalski. At first he was hesitant, but I worked him over for what seemed like months and he’s relented to driving. He feared it breaking on the way home. I told him that I know at least one bona-fide E-type Jaguar expert per 100 miles on his return trip. I know a bunch of guys that’ll come save his ass should it require saving… I AM Super Soul! 😉

I’ll happily co-drive if he wants me to as well.

  4. Yay, Chuck! MD, I think that sounds like *the* perfect car-guy road trip! If it breaks…well, the journey’s the thing, our holy wings!

  5. Chuck, dammit, these photos of yours have funny ways of touching off recall centres in what’s left of my grey matter. Today this pic reminds me of The Road Warrior (ignore the first minute or so):

Unfortunately it’s a bit of stretch to think of the XJ as “…last of the V8 interceptors..”. More like “First of the nikasil bored Ford faux pas”. Sigh! I’ll just have to get the E finished and then we can get into some serious fantasizing. It only needs torsion bars and the suspension (front and rear) has to be bolted back and we are good to go. Applications for co-driver volunteers are being accepted. Then we just need a nice weekend, some good music and I’m ready for the 1200 mile drive from Socal to Seattle.
