This is a tough one! Vented pontoon fenders and a wonky hardtop. Probably a mid-engine car from the early 60s. European. Hmmm… Gotta consult a book I think.
It’s a Lincoln Continental Mark II – 1956 or ’57.
Not a Continental, unless the vent’s been modified…the Continental had a big chrome surround on the vent, and it wasn’t bifurcated. I think I know this’un, which is why I’m staying silent.
‘Course, like the Book of Bokonen, I could be wrong…:)
Looking more closely, the split designates a ’57. http://www.lincolnpedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/1957_lincolncontinental.jpg
Yes, it is a ’57 Lincoln. Corvairdad gets another one.
Man, you totally got me on this one! Lincoln achieved its aims, I guess!
C-Dad, I owe ya an apology AND a beer! Ya goT me chuck! There’s the “Paul’s-heimer’s” kickin’ in again!
LOL!!
🙂
I wooda *swore* the Mk II had a chrome doohickey there, but I’m mistaken! Had a customer with one of these monsters…truly astonishing craftsmanship all over the car (Rear AC, cast bronze chrome bits, electric everything, auto light dimming, seeker radio….and *vacuum* wipers….!
Even the carb was weird: The ‘guts’ of it (venturis, acell pumps, chokes) were in the top part and it bolted to the bottom, which was only the fuel bowl and the flutterblies.
Ford reported they lost money on every one produced, and I can believe it.
