Car Photo of the Day: Just for Paul

When I saw this car I instantly knew “this will be a CPotD just for Paul (aka ‘vroomie’) Wigton. I’ll let him explain why.

Can you guess the car?

  1. Phuh. That the best you GOT, CG?

    It’s a *Jaguar.*

    🙂

And yes, I know the model, but I’ll disquality myself on this one and let corvairdad beat me like a drum, AGAIN….:)

As for the, ah –induction filtration system–? Here’s my analysis:

    A) It’s better than nothing. BARELY.
    B) I bet the car runs out of breath at ~4000 RPM, and above. Skinny long tubes, on the front of separate carbs, is generally A. Bad. Thing.

Try this: get a straw and breath thrugh it *slowly* [at idle]…no big woop, right? Now, start huffing and puffing HARD. It will get massively more difficult to drawn in large, fast-moving streams of air.

That’s why multicarb (and fuel infection) set-ups use a plenum, like the ‘delta’ on our E’s, and why Jaguar had a nice, spiffy, cast-aluminium plenum for the ‘carburetters a dos’ two-carb setup (I almost said ‘sedan) seen in CG’s pic.

Oh, and the damn 710 cap is *crooked*….ARRRRGH!

Thanks for thinkin’ of me, buddy!

  2. Don’t think I’ve forgotten: You come visit my house, touch-a my wall pictures, I break-a you face!

    Hehehehhee…

    🙂 🙂 🙂

  3. Naw….it works! Remember? “form follows function.”

I could NOT care less about colors of coils, the unoriginality of the ignition system, nor am I concerned that there are those who’re really upset I have the ribbed cam covers on my ’63 E-Type. They work.

The pipes and the K&Ns? THOSE are crimes against function, and that cannot be allowed!

    🙂

As for the ‘710’ cap? Write out ‘710’ on a piece of paper, then turn it upside down. Get back to me what ya do….:)

  4. ahhhh – yes I think Chuck might have explained that before – being upside down and all here I should have really gotten it 😉
