This Triumph 250 was driven by a father/son duo in a couple of the GTTSR’s I attended a few years back. I don’t know much about the TR5 variant beyond what I read in the wikipedia entry.
This year’s GTTSR event should be starting this weekend. I won’t be there as I chose to do our father/son road trip instead.
I sold my TR6 today after almost 12 years of ownership. Then I go here to get some inspiration to finally finish that Jag, and the first thing I see is a TR. Isn`t it typical ?
Sorry Ove!
Ah, the TR-250… nice. 🙂
P.S. – saw a TR5 in person in Merritt Island, FL of all places. I parked next to it in my 250, and the owner came out with a smile while I was ogling. He was nice enough to chat for a bit and give me a look at the mechanical PI. Beautiful example with a Surrey top (also a first for me, this was the late 80s).
Followed him down the road on the way out, wondering at how rare it was to be following a 5 in a 250.

In this country? REAL rare!
Of all the various cars I *had* and stupidly got rid of, I miss my ’61 TR-4 the most. Best looking TR, IMHO! And set up properly, they’ll outhandle a TR-250, and there’s more room in the cockpit. But that six makes SUCH nice noises…!
v- Yeah, Michelloti got it right with the TR4. On a related note, I see there’s a Triumph Italia for sale near me. Can’t afford it, but I’m thinking about paying a visit. How many chances will I have to lay eyes on one?
Wow, Martin..if that Italia’s not too dear, that would be a worthwhile investment, methinks.
