Car Photo of the Day: It’s Red … and Weird.

When topless this car is truly elegant in appearance (though apparently not in performance), and in an odd bit of connectivity I owe my very existence to this car. However, much like the Jaguar XK 120, when fitted with a hard top or in Coupe form it is as if Venus herself has been transformed into a hunchback.

Can you name the car?

  1. Jeff nailed it within seconds of the post going live, (but what’s with the question marks guys??!!)

It is an MGA coupe. I saw it at the MG Club’s Tulip Rally, which I have to start getting prepared for asap!

  2. MD, it’s not a latch: it’s a coupe body, not a removeable top. The ‘flying n=buttress’ was MG’s ever-so-British way to affix the roll-up windown frame…kinda like when the brits put the plumbing on the *outside* of hosues so it was easier to access when it froze?

A friend of mine here is am MG nut (and DAMN good LBC wrench: http://www.themotorwayltd.com) and has one that he is making into a LSR car, to set the record for whichever one of the 5,231 classes that SCTC has for land speed records, at Bonneville!
