Car Photo of the Day: Name That Car

I meant to post this on Friday as the “weekend stumper” but things got in the way and I never got it posted in time. I’m editing the images from this past weekend’s Tulip Rallye and hope to have those posted soon. Meanwhile I’ll leave you to ponder the identity of the car pictured above.

  1. Oh my god! You finally posted a classic Mazda! Yes, folks, it’s an R360 coupe. I guessed it from the color alone, but those headlights are amazingly distinctive. This was Mazda’s first “real car” (you know, the kind with four wheels, designed for people, etc) and had an awesome 356 cc V-twin engine. The later Carol had a 4-cylinder inline engine that was only 2 cc larger – amazingly small at 358 cc!

    Thanks, Chuck!

  2. Well, I’ll be! I had not a *single* clue, and I’ll admit, I never have seen such a Mazda, before! I bet those tail light lenses are made of the same unobtainium as are the ones on my 1000 SP.

I always wondered why they chose a Greek name for a Japanese car….

  3. MD, your admission made me feel *much* better, since you usually get the *really* whacko ones, here!
