Yes, I came across that story, too. MyCarthy-era outings of vegetarians is worrying. I also read the story posted by Dan O’Donnell which is equally disturbing.
Mark my (*rueful*) words: We ain’t seen the end of this new, VERY disturbing rise of McCarthyism in this country, ALL thanks to the dirty tricksters of Lee Atwater, down through Karl Rove.
I don’t think I’ll live long enough to see the reparation of this country’s standing and reputation….
