Insanely busy, mind the gap.

The past week has been VERY busy for me, leaving no time for blogging. In fact I’m in a motel in Madras, Oregon at the moment and this is the first time I’ve looked at my website in a week!

So here’s a pic to tide you over the weekend:

Any guesses?

Kevin got it: An Auburn.

Here are some more pictures of the same car (from the 2005 Colorado Grand.)

  1. Hi Chuck!

Its a 1932 Auburn “Boat Tail” Speedster also known as a 1932 Auburn 12-160A Speedster. This paticular car was auctioned off at the 2005 Morgan Adams Concours d’Elegance. Here is a gallery of the automobiles and aeroplanes of 2005:

Thanks for the chance to hunt these beauties down.

    Kevin

  2. Correct. I’ll add some more pics in a sec.

(I’m surprised Paul didn’t answer since there is a family connection there.)

  3. Well, chuckles, I’ve just been a tad beezee! In fact, I worked on a ’32 Speedster, many moons ago! Wild engine; it’s a Hall-Scott marine engine and in *good* tune, you could expect to get upwards of 5-7 MPG out of it! Even during the 30s and 40s, this was a daunting number! IIRC, the fuel tank was around 30 gallons, enought to get you at least *150* miles down the road!
I personally never cared for the early speedsters but then again, I’m prejudiced towards the ’35-’36 Speedsters! Now, when you get some pix of THAT year, I’ll buy’m!
