When you mix religion and politics, you get…

Absurdity!

Eat, drink and be merry… for tomorrow we may be in Utah! … or Afghanistan?

  1. Living in Utah, especially as a transplant as I am, is surly an odd thing. I do regular gigs at one of the ski resorts here in Park City, and watching the look on the tourists’ faces as the waitress explains that yes, they do have to buy that bowl of peanuts and pretzels in order to get a drink is priceless, and a bit embarrassing.

It gets even better in February, when our legislature meets — they’re part time, and only meet for a month. The moral grandstanding is something to behold. I do my best to keep away from the local news during this time, as I get really tempted to start hitting people. If you ever needed an example of the tyranny of the majority, this is it.

  2. This is the agenda of the fundie rights: Impose their morality on the masses, while upholding despicable people like Bush and his ilk. Wear: good, drinking: bad.

My Dad, when I was a young boy, told me all I really needed to know about the ‘tyrannical majority’ in SLC: Just observe the statue of Brigham Young: his hand’s extended towards the bank and his ass is pointed at the Tabernacle.

    Really!

    🙂
