A 1910 Brush Runabout’s dashboard with its dual ignition control.
I’d love to drive a brass era machine some time. A Brush would be a nice choice, since the engine rotates counter-clockwise, so the hand crank starting won’t break the arm of the starter if it misfires!
Anyone need a co-driver for the London-to-Brighton run? I’m available! 😉
Even the gauges were of wood: http://haskey.com/johnh/gauge.jpg
OK… WTF is that John? Wind-resistance speedometer?
Right you are Chuck! It is a speedometer. On the reverse side there is a window that shows your speed. All the cars at this show had a ‘Do not touch’ sign on them so I didn’t bend the vane back to see what the ‘top speed’ was…
Grrr… I hate “do not touch” signs!
Have you ever seen my “Go ahead and touch” sign I put on the Jag?
Me too, and I’d wished I’d printed out your sign for the few car shows I was in this summer…done now!
Give me some text about your car’s history and I’ll print up a custom back-side for you! I have affixed the sign to two pieces of cardboard which I carry around behind the seat. When I park it (anywhere) I place these in the windshield. With two of them I can display both sides at the same time. 😉
