Car Photo of the Day: When men were men, and dashboards were wood!

A 1910 Brush Runabout’s dashboard with its dual ignition control.

I’d love to drive a brass era machine some time. A Brush would be a nice choice, since the engine rotates counter-clockwise, so the hand crank starting won’t break the arm of the starter if it misfires!

Anyone need a co-driver for the London-to-Brighton run? I’m available! 😉

  1. Right you are Chuck! It is a speedometer. On the reverse side there is a window that shows your speed. All the cars at this show had a ‘Do not touch’ sign on them so I didn’t bend the vane back to see what the ‘top speed’ was…

  2. Me too, and I’d wished I’d printed out your sign for the few car shows I was in this summer…done now!

  3. Give me some text about your car’s history and I’ll print up a custom back-side for you! I have affixed the sign to two pieces of cardboard which I carry around behind the seat. When I park it (anywhere) I place these in the windshield. With two of them I can display both sides at the same time. 😉
