Car Photo of the Day: Name that car.

I think this one will be a stumper. It looks like a lot of other things, but then some detail doesn’t match up. Know what it is?

That’s an old Italian license plate — Rome registration to be specific. The ‘Z’ on the front quarter panel suggests a Zagato-ization (of something Italian). That triangle on the grille keeps screaming something at me. I just can’t hear what it’s saying.

That triangle’s been nagging me. Something about Lancia comes to mind. Perhaps an Appia?

Hey Chuck,
What you have here appears to be a 1959 Lancia Appia GTE Zagato. The 60′ GTE had flat lights versus the recessed ones with covers.
Cheers,
Shaun and Christina

Got it. Damn… and here I thought it would be hard.

Other than the easily-recognizable shape, the “Lancia” grille was also a good hint…;)

It looks very similar to the Alfa Zagato 1900
