Continuing part of yesterday’s thought process…
I am in full agreement with Mr. Clarkson here. I have often thought that it is not possible today to build a car that is as beautiful as say, an E-type Jaguar. The rules and regulations have strangled the life from so many designs. But here, with the 8C Alfa Romeo proves me wrong.
Like the E-type the 8C has its quirks and imperfections, but damn is this thing gorgeous. Bellisimo Alfa Romeo!
it is a good thing we don’t all agree otherwise all the cars would look like Toyotas!!
and even though I can’t see the video in my country I know what the 8C looks like…
so sorry but I’d still have an Aston Martin DB9 or Vantage please… 🙂

It’s gorgeous, no doubt: I could even forgive what reportedly is ‘lousy’ handling and what I fear is typical Italian QC.
What I’d find *very* difficult to deal with is…V-8 noises
tEk, the sound it makes. It sounds just like a V-8. Yea, yea, I *know* it has a V-8 engine, but…it doesn’t *have to* sound like a Mustang. Or a Ford pickup truck. If I want that kind of ‘music, i can go buy a ford F-350, with a PowerStroke diesel engine that sounds nearly *identical* AND get better fuel mileage!
This is one of those areas where I get -stultified–. I absolutely *detest* the sounds V-8s make; to me, they are aural reminders of what’s wrong with the American car industry, and scene.
A V-8 can sound great, no doubt, and it can even be made to sound like a *proper* engine, like, oh say, a Jaguar 6-banger..

…but as currently configured, I’d have to learn to ignore those rumbly V-8 sounds coming from that gorgeous body. It’d be kinda like like Catherine Zeta-Jones, showing up at your front door, lookin’ her usual best…then opening her mouth, and sounding like Tallulah Bankhead.
