One wonders why the factory never produced one of these.

My Dad conveyed to me his astonishment at seeing his first P1800, in late 1961: he said he couldn’t possibly figure it as a Volvo. In many ways, it was as revoluntionary a car to Volvo as was the E Type was to Jaguar.
I always wanted one, but waited too long..;( And talk about TIN worm infestations?…OHMIGAWD!!!
