Snowed in.

The reason the site hasn’t been updated of late is because I’ve been offline. We were hit with a big snowstorm (about 16″-18″ of wet heavy snow… a lot for these parts) and very cold temps, low last night was 11°F, (-11.6°C) and the high yesterday was 18°F (-7°C). Our power is out, which means no heat, no lights, no water. Ironically I do have Internet access as our cable is still working, but honestly blogging is really low on the priority scale right now.

I promise I’ll tell the whole tale once the thaw comes and power is restored.

Roger should know instantly what this car is, so I’m pre-disqualifying him from guessing. Anyone else wish to take a stab?
IIRC it was the street-legal version of a killer pre-war racer and LSR car. It has always been on my list of “10 cars I’d like to own/drive someday” after I saw grainy period photos of it in a book my dad owned about this particular marque. The idea of achieving it’s theoretical top-speed of around 140 MPH on those tall skinny tires somehow affected me deeply as a boy.

I bet Paul knows too, so go paint your Jaguar Paul! 😉

I’ve got a nasty cold, which means instead of the usual weekend household chores (and veggie oil processing… the burger place has changed hands once again, and now they don’t change oil in the fryers until Saturday… which sort of screws up my Friday pickup schedule!) I’m sitting around trying to get better. For me that involves serious liquid intake (I prefer iced tea infused with fresh squeezed lime juice), and as much sleep as I can manage. My awake time is spent reading. If I work up some energy I’ll put some into catching up here on the blog.

Record Breaking Event News Footage: What Is a Greasel… And How Fast Will It Go? Almost 100-Miles per Hour!

Dan sent me this link. I’m sorry to say I’ve beaten this “World Record” on public roads in my veggie oil powered car many times… in fact just about every time I get behind the wheel! Something must be seriously wrong with this LSR attempting … um… “car” if my 90HP VW TDI can whip it’s 3000 HP ass. I know that Enzo Ferrari once said that “Aerodynamics are for people that can’t build engines” but these guy’s choice of a machine with the aero properties of the flat side of a billboard is a bit weird.

I can’t believe the sponsor (in this case Yahoo!) is trumpeting this “achievement.”
